No rush V-man, Morocco will be there for a while and there are always used CB-Xs around for 3.5k. Then at the very least you need a bashplate. Apart from that you could manage the easier Moroccan tracks on a stock X and see if you want to go further.
Thanks for clarification Austin. Permission from the community would be the way to do it, even if it's not technically necessary. And a light and low CG would do nicely on that track.
CB-Xing in the Northwest

I saw the title and was expecting to see six cylinders Chris
Finally back on a GS

Fabulous photos Chris.
The CB-X is a great bike.
Was lucky enough to have the rally Raid Products/stage 3 one for a day when I went for a trail ride with John from RRP.
After my rattly 640 I had to blip the throttle at traffic lights just to ensure it was still running
Only did a few grassy byways , but a lot of road miles, really like it and can see that as the future long distance trail bike for me.

"The trails of the world be countless, and most of the trails be tried.
You tread on the heels of many, till you come where the ways divide.
And one lies safe in the sunlight, and the other is dreary and wan, Yet you look aslant at the Lone Trail, and the Lone Trail lures you on....
....Bid good-bye to sweetheart, bid goodbye to friend, The Lone Trail, the Lone Trail, follow to the end.
Tarry not, and fear not, chosen of the true;
Lover of the Lone Trail, The Lone Trail waits for you"

I must say I do like the CB-X's quietness. Last bike had a Scorpion that made an unbearable racket. Couldn't wait to ditch it.

We got out to Scoraig on pushbikes last week and it's no place for a moto. Halfway round the track clings to the headland where it climbs steeply on exposed cobbled sections that would need to be launched at all-or-nothing. It then drops down as steeply with added 1-foot rock steps to a small gate. The chicken wire fence here would not hold a tumbling moto.
I don't know what bikes were in your planned group that time Austin, but I think the bad weather did you a favour. Even on a 250 trail bike you couldn't ride this bit without teamwork. CG-man would be hauling his 125 up the steps and walking it down some sections. Other than this bit, largely rideable.

Re: CB-Xing in the Northwest
The tubeless sealed spoke wheels arrive back this week at Rally Raid Products from BarTubeless, in Italy, then we will be ready to kit out the CB500X to Level 3 spec at Torque Racing's new premises in Herts. It should take about 4 hours to do the conversion, as we have done a few now, and know the routine. For a first-timer we say 1 day is sufficient.
It will be interesting to see how the tubeless conversion works, and we may offer it as an option, it should work out about £100 per wheel.
