'monarch of the glen' my wee friend is now 18 years old and still in good fettle a rescue dog that was for the big off the day i wandered into the cat and dog home 17 years ago.....he got a full life and i got joy...

Nearest was given to me by a joiner who was emagrating, the little black beastie was left with a local keeper, who didn't want him, and the big beast in the middle is my youngest son's dog - living with me till whenever.
Here is my original pack, in working mode . . . thats me crouching in the middle of the front row, with the pack next to me - Ballindalloch Castle many years ago

Visiting my local rescue center in Durham was a great eye opener for me , i will never buy dog again ever , there are so many dogs out there in need of a good home , i cannot believe that some folks have the heart to betray ( dump ) dog for whatever silly reason . I would rather be death than betray a friend .
I ended up crying in there seing some of the dogs and hearing some of the stories , dogs burned by cigaretes , one eyed badly scared dogs ( used as a training bait for fighting dogs ), dogs with broken legs , dogs terryfied of people - badly abused by previous owners . Mostly staffs and lurchers .
Please dont buy pupies , dont suport the back yard breeders . Dogs are not just for christmass .

I couldn't agree more - although it wasn't easy adopting Streak was the best thi g we've ever done. A twenty-five kilo male husky with deep psychlogogical problems was quite a challenge, but Lucky did the real work of makoing a dog out of him- of course!

You're right - there's never any need to buy puppies, alway too many in the rescue centres for that.
