what have I done to my bike today?
(couldn`t find topic as access is now limited to 1 page for each)

I bought a flip up helmet .. so now i can ride ((in the cold) my 250 Rally to get an MOT .. then i can tax it .. then I can ride it to have the engine examined .. then .......

(I haven't ridden it for half a year)

well ... I didn't manage to leap the little barrier of getting an MOT for the crf250 ... why does it seem so difficult? .. but then, it is snow and ice here and the bike shop was not answering the phone anyway.

However .. to keep the spirits up (no lager) , I decided wildly to buy a new helmet .... `but.. you just bought one!`, i hear you say (almost with interest) .. yes but that was more suited to my road bike NC750 .. and this one is flip front AND got a PEAK ... yep!!!! .. how many you see like that.

Images-l500 by gary boy, on Flickr

originally £140 or £129 depending .. but reduced to £75 ...
plus JANcode >>>>> £67 .. yay (I am a cheapskate)

YOU may not be interested, and i dont blame you .. but its a big deal for me lol... and passes the time too

It is getting delivered, but should be ok, post seems ok these days, in terms of cracking etc lol, hopefully, and the `L` size usually fits me ok.
The Peak?? ... sunlight, flies, branches etc .. very useful. Hope it holds ok as it seems a bit flimsy and high up off the helmet.

well no one has complained so I shall continue the trivia lol.

originally, buying a helmet, I intended to keep using my cheap flip front for both off and on road. then decided that a new cheap off road helmet would be a good idea, for motivation ((getting back into trail riding) and practicality of use, but when i got it, from mandp for £45, it seemed too good a quality thing for trail use, so i decided to use it for road, as it looks really nice, and then use my old flip front for the trails.

However, the old helmet was expanded from use, .. it was very cheap, and the lining seems to have imploded or something .. so i decided i really really needed a dual sport helmet for the trails. and my overdraft would have to bear it lol.
however, finding one, i thought, was almost impossible, but ebay came to the rescue, and i have found and ordered one, lol.

Itchy Boots .. gord, she impresses me .. but have you noticed she never removes her helmet, I think i know why .. if she is like me, she does not easily like the stretch of the helmet over the ears ... arrrrgh ... it hurts and is very non comfortable to do.
Hence my choice, always of... flip front helmets. Someone tell her ... tho of course Arai probably got advertising rights or something.

I've never noticed that she never removes her helmet on camera. She is great, her adventures and her success is inspiring.

new viper dual sport helmet arrived today ... I realised how many i now had (ie vipers lol)

Image20230121_195440 (2) by gary boy, on Flickr

lucky i threw out my other 3 a few months ago.

top left .. Caberg .. £117 .. rubbish .. locking mechanism for chin just disintegrated.
top middle .. Tuzo .. £39 .. great value ((then) but a bit short in length, to the mouth.
top right .. KBC .. .. comfy and great to wear, great vision, but no chin protection, `serious!!` I thought as i skidded across the tarmac on the clear visor, (see scrapes)
bottom left .. LS2 .. £45 .. really comfy, light, great fit.
bottom mid .. viper .. £67 .. good, has a peak (suspect strength), solid but heavy. a bit too heavy.
bottom right .. Spada .. £39 .. great value then .. but expanded with use .. good when newer, but poor vision to sides.

o .. you are SO right Mag ... the more i see of her the more I admire her
she has perked me up (er .. I mean... ) through these dark cold non-bike times lol .

what i mean, helmet, is that she usually keeps her helmet on when riding, even if she has an off or stops for a short time.
She has to be in a very serious riding situation to actually remove her helmet, which is a full face, not a flip front.
even keeps it on in the hot desert if she is in trouble (an off) or opening a gate etc.
.. she even mentioned it once, that viewers noticed it, ... she said she doesn't even notice it is still on.

I only buy flip fronts now ... and cheap ones .

ps .. I lied ... Norally always wears a helmet, off the bike as well as on the bike .. she even sleeps in it, and pees in it.
