I started getting numbness down my arm, thumb and forefinger, turned out my 4th and 5th vertebrae were fecked. Got them replaced with ceramic discs.....excellent. Did take about couple months to settle down, but back riding again, happy days. Although think I've got another little neck issue now, called getting old.

Totally amazed to see these 3 Red Deer stags on Blaze Hill near Rainow in Cheshire this morning.

Does anyone have experience of this?
Will the numbness fade?
When will I be able to put a heavy lid on my head and bounce off down Devon’s pot-holey roads on a bike?

Many thanks
I don't want to divert the photo thread so I'll be brief...
I managed to fly a hang glider into the ground in the Peak District. Broke 3 C vertebrae and assorted other bones and teeth and spent 8 weeks staring at a hospital ceiling. The hardest part was getting my heart back up to the job of pumping when I stood up let alone doing activity but you won't suffer that.
Once up and around it was only a couple of weeks before I was back on a bike but my neck was very weak so I had to build up to higher speeds and endurance. Initially I felt a bit woosy :?
Swimming was the thing that got me up to strength again and I still swim at least once a week mainly because of my shoulder but my neck will benefit.
To begin with when I turned my head I could hear clicking noises but the surgeon said they will go because your body is modifying itself all the time  I don't know when it stopped but it did. That was all 20 years ago - aah how time flys - and I of course don't.

 . You are lucky to be posting on here at all. I've done some mad things in my time, but hang-gliding always looks particularly bananas to me. I'm sure it's a brilliant adrenaline rush though.

Best of luck with your recovery. As you already know, there's not much can beat regular swimming for this kind of thing.

Thanks boys,

I used to fly hangliders too, in Taiwan 25 years ago. Had a few crashes but nothing like yours. That sounds bloody awful.

Thanks for the comments. The neck and shoulder are improving well but the nerve damage seems to be taking longer. Still, there’s plenty of time yet. Three months off ‘games’ should take me nicely to the beginning of summer. Splendid!

At least the brace helps you to “hold your head high” in the face of adversity.

Get well soon and all that.

Well, apart from the reduced power, weight and seat height, not much between them Pete :D

First time I've ever had to think about running a bike in, so progress is steady
