It is indeed my car, meet Mrs Sibeski, not a Tata but a 1992 Lada Niva which is, as I'm now discovering, the best 4x4 you can possibly drive! (thumbs)

PS - my excursions have led me into some seriously 'technical' sections that i'd have serious difficulties with on my bike, especially exploring on my own in the back of beyond - but I'd be b*****ed if I stop to photograph them ...

Biggest mistake I ever made - well one of them! - was not buying one new in 1987 after I quite smoking, bought a Fiat Panda instead with the money I saved ...

Was it a 4x4? I had a Fiat Panda 4x4, given to me by my sister and it was a cracking little car.
Kept up with anything you like on the motorway.
Still see them in France, i'd have another.

No, sadly, but it was the 1000 cc model and used to get us from Brighton to our place in the Pyrenees on two tanks of fuel - just! - which was really handy back in pre-Euro days when we didn't want end up with loads of useless French Franks - rendered obsolete once I stopped the monthly booze-n-fag run from Newhaven to Dieppe

Although the ordinary SEAT model Pandas are pretty useful in Spanish trail conditions the 4x4 was popular too - you still see plenty and in fact there's a sort of Dakar 'Low Cost' called Panadaraid:

I'm thinking of doing something similar with the Niva now of course! (thumbs)

I spotted this bike in Hoi An, Vietnam an hour ago.
There were these huge panniers, about five tool tubes and the hazard tape on the panniers even had strips of red lights.

The bike was outside a sorts bar that I went into to watch rugby.

My guess is the rider was a flanker.
