So have I, maybe if my numbers come up! Have you seen the Unicat trucks http://www.unicat.net/en/
The lightest piece of kit is the one you leave behind...
Re: Overland truck in action
Yeh they are nice but defo a lottery win for one of them but that unimog is
An ex ambulance and is £23000 from a dealer then may £5000 kitting it out
It is doable
Cheers

"These machines are ex German military and as such they are all in excellent condition."

Re: Overland truck in action
Yeh they do but it's all about the spec the ambulances already have the rear body and fast axles and most are turbo's that makes a big deference to the cruising speed ..I don't know great deal about them
But sure would like one

Re: Overland truck in action
Ex Bundeswehr trucks come up every now and then but they are taken out of service when its beyond economical repair.
British Army on the other hand have a greater turn over thanks to poxy cut backs and ditching regiments, but that's another story.
Light utility trucks are sold off through auction and you can get a decent truck for around €8000
Leyland DAF either as a flatbed and put your own body /caravan on the back or an Ops / WKSP body fitted
RB44, better now they upgraded the brakes
Pinzgauer smaller than a truck but a tad bigger than a Rover taken the place of the 1 ton FC
The Signals have a gucci 4x4 and a 6x6 DURO truck I dont know anything about them but a local firm builds overland /exped trucks and his last few have been on this base and will be taking over from the unimog base.
