Drivers Urged to think Biker

Found a great video then post it up here. It doesn't have to be about bikes.

Quite like the advert, but i dont think it has the same impact as one of their previous campaigns (the one where the bike hits the side of a car that pulls out in front of it - always makes me cringe).

But,(and its probably not measurable)if the adverts saves one motorcyclist in the uk from serious or fatal injuries, I think its well worth it.

I remember the advert where the bike hits the car and bounces off.
That is not what happens in practice, if the bike is going slow enough to bounce off you are down to swerving speed (say about 40/50MPH) and just bank out of the way of the car.
Anything faster on a large bike and it smashes the drivers door and if the tank ruptures goes up in ball of flame.
Anyway it cannot be legal to drive around with all that lights/metalwork on the back of the bike.

What you need is one of these.

Hi,
I read your message on mobile phone use.
A study was undertaken by a university, and it was found that using a mobile, hands free or not was equilivant to being 2.5 x over the drink drive limit. Staggering figures.
As a result of this the company I work for introduced a Mobile phone policy while driving. Engine ON Mobies OFF.
A great attitude towards road safety.
The achievement is in....every stranger that is now a friend.

What they should be showing is the car driver being killed, the bike in the car where the driver was sitting, then may be they might actually look out for us.

Sorry guys, i dont agree with harsher sentences for offending car drivers, its too late then, that could be one of us lying in the road.

Prevention is better than any cure or punishment, make all new drivers do a CBT first on a bike and let them experience how vunerable they are, it will do more good than a fine or jail time.

I'd been driving 19 years before passing my bike test, it improved my driving no end, im a lot more observant now, take a lot more information in too, i take a 2nd look at junctions when im pulling out especially after a car has just passed in case a rider was sitting up his bumper and wasnt easily visible.

Most drivers dont deliberately want to kill us, they just need better training to avoid that happening.

All car drivers should be forced to ride a bike as part of taking and passing their car test. Oap's should have to prove that they can drive correctly instead of just going to the doc and getting a form filled out.
Doc's should have to inform the authorities about anyone taking strong medication that can effect their driving, there are so many "normal" people out there on strong meds who should not drive but still continue to do so.

I had this converstion with a mate yesterday

"you look like shit"
"yeah just been to doc's and got a rollickin"
"er why"
"asked for sick note and doc said to me"
Doc.. "your to ill to go to work but you drove here"

Room for thought there.....

I dont think driving is a right it should be a privilige

Cheers Spud ;)
