Thanks for posting. Back in't day eh?
Whilst enjoying the gentle narrative, I constantly wondered how many of those lanes are now closed to motor vehicles?

FROM MEMORY ONLY 1 OR 2 Mentioned are still open to bikes/cars - one was Gatescarth and you have to have a permit to drive it
I have ridden all of them in the 1990's/early 2000's before NERC 2006 came in and downgraded most of them to RB's

I wonder if you could still ride them and now did it on a 2019 KTM enduro - how they would have fared compared to a SP370 or Ty175 ?

I know or knew Pete, the narrator and have ridden all those lanes in the 80's/90's, sometimes with Pete and many of the older TRF riders of the time. Lanes like Walna Scar and Gatesgarth were recognised as being very hard and tricky to get up as they were often just washed out bolder fields, it's one of the reasons I'm quite happy riding up a rocky trail now, and some of the bogs we rode across would swallow a bike, there would be no chance of getting GS over them as it'd take 2 of you to get an XL125 or 185 over them, it wasn't if you got stuck it was how deep you got stuck

I lament the closure of walna scar. one of the true ancient green lanes with the some of the best views in the world. I last did in a defender 2 weeks before it closed. Balancing it on 3 wheels through the blasted boulder while creeping through was brilliant. Such a shame.
