Mike why do you say that, I am building 701 adventure bike with the Omega rally kit.Mike54 wrote:For posers only.
The bikes I build are used for the purpose they are built for ie off road adventure travel.
I built a 690 adventure rally bike in 2013 and have used it for a number of off road trips to Morocco & Iceland & trail
Riding in Mid Wales.
Back in 2009 I built a BMW 650 XC with the Tourech Kit, the guy who has the bike now is in the middle of Africa.
Rally Raid have not yet developed a full kit for the 701 so I looked elsewhere for the kit, Nomad have a nice tower but there extra tanks are just Roto tanks bolted to the crash bars.
MSR have the tower & screen but no tanks.
There is a company in Greece with a full kit but wanted payment up front but could not deliver for 2 months.
I contacted Thomas at Omega in SA who was very helpful, as my kit was the 20th kit of a run of 20 he did me a good deal to fill the production run.
The GDP to SA Ran was a much better exchange rate than SA Ran to USD which is the norm for export, the export price is nett of SA VAT.
The air freight was £180 with Virgin Atlantic,
The 701 I bought was a dealer ex demo bike with 500 miles, with the Omega kit the whole bike stands me at less than a new 690 with the RR Kit.
I think the possers are the guys who buy the big adventure bikes and won't even take them on a gravel road or out in the rain.
As I said my 701 will be used for purpose not to pose on, first trip is Morocco next Month.
