Teenagers & track suits bottoms for riding gear.

Post by phil90 »

Ok guys I need some help with my son and his choice of riding gear.

When he comes on the back of my bike he wears all the right gear, padded jacket, padded textile trousers, gloves, boots the lot and we have no problems at all however, when he rides his 50cc scooter he insists on riding with track suit bottoms on and trainers. I've told him that sliding on a big bike at 45mph is exactly the same as sliding on a scooter at 45mph but he says "I'm only going to McDonald's for a drink and all my mates will laugh at me for wearing those trousers" fortunately he still wears the jacket and gloves (one of the conditions of owning the bike) but i think he needs to wear the full protection so this is my idea.. I don't want to have to get all heavy handed and this isn't what the post is all about but I am hoping that between us we can give him some motivation to dress accordingly and that it's actually cool to be seen riding a bike with the right gear on.. :) :)

Please it's just a bit of fun so let's see how many comments we can get telling Ben to wear the right gear (copy and paste and add your own twist if you want, keep it clean tho') :) :)

"Ben, wear the right gear on that bike mate".

Thanks.. Ben's mum and dad.. Ps when hopefully we have enough comments we will present it to Ben and let him read them all. If we get enough I'll make a small donation to a local charity. Can't say fairer than that. :)

Ben we have had this discussion before....
Wearing tracky bottoms is like going out on the pull (as you do ) and taking a paper condom....
Now get real and wear te right gear for the right job..... Proper condoms are in yer dads bedside cabinet.

Get some kevlar cargo trousers, they look reasonable and will give you a better chance of walking away than trackies. My lads have used the PSX boots from Hein Gericke before which pass well for trendy trainers.

1) Let him dress how he wants and learn through experience

2) MX knee protection under his trackies

3) Ban him from McDonalds and save him from obesity and bad breath

4) Show him that YouTube horror vid of the girl in the T-shirt who fell off the back of the GSX-R and cheese-gratered her tits

5) Show him the Super-size me DVD.

6) All of the above!

Cant reecomend enough a decent pair of kevlar jeans. Ive worn them on a scooter for nealry 2 years and they are great. I wear them to ride to sixth form every day and non of my mates know the difference.

As my dad keeps telling me at 30 MPH it takes 3 seconds to get from skin to bone, a pair of "trackies" wont even add half a second to that. :S

Yep, kevlar jeans seem to be the order of the day for a lad on a scoot.

There's no way he's gonna get kitted right up when his (stupid) mates are gonna take the piss.

One other way, flog the scoot and get him a derby or something 'crosser' looking, then he'll want to wear the kit and look the part.
