Re: Wednesday
The main point of lock-down was/is to prevent too many people catching the virus at the same time, which would overload the NHS. The idea of loosening restrictions is to allow more people to catch it (and get over it), but avoid an uncontrollable spike. If you are old / vulnerable, you should still stay at home. Reduced non-Covid hospital visits are more of a side benefit as is reduced pollution and crime.Thedktor wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 8:51 am A big point of the lockdown was to prevent people ending up in hospital due to non-Corona related things, such as motorcycling, work, even driving.
If you stay at home, stay local, the chances of you injuring yourself is small - a hospital is the last place you want to be cos you will probably catch the lurg....
PS I have been riding my bicycle so have taken a calculated risk/choice on this.
Whether it works or not is debatable (see Germany) and I suspect that other home nations will be watching with interest to see what happens to the English Guinea Pigs.
Here in Sunny Scotland, Niki the fish is waiting for the midges to get really hungry before lifting lock-down.
