Last summer we welcomed a swallow family fo the first time since we moved here.
Early this spring, and enterprising wren family 'borrowed' the empty nest and made their own modifications.

Keep thinking, they should be here tomorrow.
Eventually, some swallows have rocked up...but mostly singletons orbiting about and looking shell-shocked.
Found out that while crossing Greece on this year's migration they were caught out by heavy rain and low temperatures, compounded by strong headwinds. They were falling dead from the sky. House martins and swifts, too.
So, the little nest is probably never going to be used again.
If you are lucky enough to be blessed by these birds this year, please let them nest. Yes it's messy, but only for a few short weeks.
