Thanks for the reply Alan.
Must admit that I assumed that with Spain, France etc being in lockdown that everyone was on board with the message so you were not suffering with people roaming around like we currently have in the UK.
I myself have been suffering with manflu for about a week which has coincided with my work being stopped, no work for this coming week either which should give me enough time to shake it off and do a few jobs that need sorting. My Wife is a frontline NHS worker so we are social distancing (after 35 years of marriage it comes naturally, lol).
My Daughter and Granddaughter (9 month old) have been having similar symptoms to mine so have self isolated and appear to be over the worst (thank heaven for facetime on phones).
Also elderly parents have put themselves on lockdown too.
Stay strong and stay safe.

For those who haven't already seen this, it is WELL worth a watch. Also, bear in mind it was filmed 2 years ago!

Re: Covid 19 Coronavirus
Apparently Boris has spent £5.8 million sending every household a signed piece of emergency loo roll, I do hope it has his photo on it too. I think the money might have been better spent buying every nhs worker a box of chocolates, or better yet some proper PPE.
Cheers

Re: Covid 19 Coronavirus
The latest self-important nationalist world leader to screw it all up: Norendra Modi.
He gave the entire population of India a few hours (which for many without comms meant no time whatsoever), to go into full lockdown. Now everyone without food in their household at that particular moment is going hungry - and millions (yes millions) of migrant workers and other displaced people are on the move packing buses and trains with a flood of infected, mobile humanity.
Is there a theme here? Bolsanaro and Modi are known for taking their cues from Trump who has also condemned many thousand of Americans to an early and preventable death - basically because they all put their narcissism and personal twisted ideologies ahead of their people.

Re: Covid 19 Coronavirus
My son is also an anaesthetist and he has given me exactly the same lecture despite knowing how much I love being out, using bikes etc. He regards me as at risk due to age. so not coming near me.Asgard wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2020 10:17 pm Copied from his FB Page:
I’m a consultant anaesthetist working in Frimley Park Hospital and this week all anaesthetists are being re-roled as intensive care doctors. We will be tasked with putting the sickest patients under anaesthetic and onto ventilators/life support machines. Each patient will require 10 days+ on a ventilator then may need a temporary tracheostomy to get them off the ventilator.
The intensive care unit is already full of COVID-19 patients on ventilators (12) with more requiring ventilation every day. My hospital usually has 4-10 patients on ventilators and is planning and EXPECTING 80 patients to require ventilation.
It seems the public health message is not getting through. Let me be clear. A lot of people are going to die. They will mainly be 70 years plus but be in no doubt, 30-40 year olds will die too.
Pubs have been busy, offices open, social events happening, kids parties etc. It all needs to stop. Infected people shed virus and it must be everywhere by now. It is your social responsibility to engage in social distancing. Actions NOW can prevent further disease transmission, ICU admissions and deaths in 10-20 days.
Two of my anaesthetic/ICU colleagues in other hospitals are off work due to being infected (doing ok). As health care workers, we are now EXPECTING to catch it despite PPE. This virus has been transmitted around the globe unchecked and will not stop until it has no where to go - social distancing/isolation Or patient death.
Here ends my public health message.
On a more personal level, my son turned three years old last week and is six weeks into a three year chemotherapy program for lymphoma. This virus is a big threat to his life and as I am going to be exposed this week doing my job, I can no longer live at home.
I have had to make the difficult choice: to do my job and save lives of people I don’t know, or to be with my son whilst he battles cancer. Alfie hopefully will survive his cancer and chemo, but many people will die from flu. My heart is broken making this decision, but I choose to save the lives of strangers and leave him in the care of my beautiful wife and family.
Later this week I’ll be moving into a motor home and will not be able to take any further part in his care for the next 6 months.
Bottom line. SOCIALLY ISOLATE or people die in two weeks."
Bottom line is take it on board and spend time at home on low risk diy, bike maintenance etc. If you get an injury you don't want to get hospital treatment unless your injury is more important than the likely effects of picking up CoVid19

Might as well get the bikes out in 2021, at this rate if
a) we are still alive
b) we have any money and haven’t sold our bikes to aid cash flow and keep us fed and housed

Re: Covid 19 Coronavirus
I’m getting peed off with the lectures and put downs.
Constant slagging off of the UK’s procedures are rather thin coming from other affected countries in Europe. Talking of which, from what I have read, the EU aren’t exactly helping much and spending a lot of time squabbling.
This is an awful situation for anyone and everyone and daily political point scoring is rather pathetic.
To get the current sad levels of deaths, something may/must not be working and hopefully a successful slow down across the world will happen sooner than later.
I’d rather the separation method is rammed home, even if it means sending everyone a letter, than the current state of pillocks having parties or invading tourist areas. Even though there will always be some idiots who know better.
No doubt this will get a tirade of abuse from certain ABR members but I had to get this off my chest.
If you can’t say something positive or constructive, don’t bother saying anything.
