Just found out about this talk at the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu on 6th December:

https://nationalmotormuseum.org.uk/bear ... -overland/

It's by Drs Pat and Ness Garrod who rode an R100GS around the World 'two-up' and then another GS to circumnavigate Africa. They wrote about their adventures in the book Bearback: The World Overland

They had Steph Jeavons speaking there in March and it was an excellent evening.

Incidentally both Steph's 'Rhonda the Honda' and one of the Garrod's 'Bears' are currently on display in the Museum's motorcycle gallery.

Bearback is certainly a great read. Read it a few yrs ago so time to read it again ☺ I quite fancy going to Beaulieu for this and browsing their wonderful collection of vehicles.

Just thought I'd bump this up in case anyone's interested. I'm going with a mate.

Went to this on Friday and what an entertaining and inspiring evening it was. First part was a talk by Pat Garrod about their RTW and African Journeys with a good number of hairy incidents balanced by fantastic human interest stories about the people they met on their travels. Second half of the evening was a screening of their video about the southbound leg of their journey through Africa. Stunning.

An interesting development was that Derden Motorcycles, the local Suzuki and Moto Guzzi dealers, had a V-Strom 1000 and V85TT on display so there was plenty to look at and talk about during the interval.

Apparently Steph Jeavons is making a second visit to the museum on 21st March to talk about her recent adventures in the Himalayas. I've already booked my seat.
