AVIVA Insurance

Post by Italy1 »

Just wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone else...….

I have been with AVIVA for a number of years. This year, as the bike was being fixed in a garage, I missed the policy expiry date and accidentally let my Fully Comp cover expire.
I called two days after the expiry date, and I was told that unfortunately I would have to be treated like a new customer and issued with a fresh, brand new quote…...same bike, same address, same everything as 48 hours earlier...…

To my surprise, the new quote came up over 100GBP cheaper than the renewal premium I had received for the existing policy! :? :?
I was pleased on one hand as the premium I was to pay was lower but way pissed off with the principle behind it (if there is one)…...you are a loyal, long term, existing customer....? Pay for the privilege!!!!

You are a new customer …..? come on in Sir and pay a bit less than the other idiots who have been with us for years...…. ;)

I guess, lesson learned and now know what to do at the next renewal...…. 8-)

Been with CN for years, but never accept their renewal price. A quick internet search and phone call to CN normally reduces by between £60 & £100 every year. A PITA I agree and they shouldn’t try and take the Pi$$ every year, but a little hassle makes for a decent saving each year, so worth it.

Yup, every year do the insurance dance, quite often I end up swapping to another company for a year and then maybe back to the original one etc.
This year my renewal was nearly 400% more  (that's not a typo) Went online to the offending companies website and got a new price less than last years premium! So I just took that policy out with the same company as they have all my details, no claims etc already.
There were no changes or claims etc so I've no idea how they came up with the ridiculous renewal price.

quite right that anyone with
honesty
integrity
loyalty
and a good fine nature
should be ruthlessly punished !!

.. otherwise the others will not thrive.

The price you get for a 'new customer' quote is an 'introductory price' to get you with them. They then basically hope you'll forget/be too lazy when it comes to renewal and the price you get is marginally better at best.

I managed on quite a few occasions to do exactly that with the car insurance.

Renewal notice comes in post so I go looking on their website to see how their on line pricing for a new customer compares.......a lot of the time its cheaper.

There is no loyalty these days. Existing customers are seen as cash cows to be milked. They'll be too lazy to move, so stiff them as much as you csn.

Hmm rather harsh as many will allow expired NCB up to 2 years after a policy is finished
