Just to add even more... there's no way that you could miss a good bit of Bowie or Prince and then there's Roxy Music and T Rex.

Well this has been a huge success.

I spent several hours last night listening to some of these and doing the massive Christmas jigsaw and life was good.

So far:
Rumours - So many good songs on there.

Black Sabbath - So good I listened twice!

Smiths Greatest Hits - Some great stuff in there.

Let it Bleed - Brilliant.

Sade - Not so keen which is a real pity as she lives next door.

Golden Earring - Totally awesome.

ZZ Top Deguello - Can't believe I've not heard their early stuff before, awesome.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - This was already my favourite album of all time and Jas is probably already sick of it.

I will listen to all of them in the coming days and most will filter down to my little girl too.

Thanks all.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Suzuki DR200 Djebel.

Couldn't agree more, I'm afraid I found Sade too slick and the overall sound manufactured and over produced, for me at least.
Golden Earring still lighting my fire 40 odd years on.
Plus loads of other selections for us all to get our teeth into.

Another suggestion
Faith Healer , Alex harvey. Just the track

And on a different tack Labelle, Chamelion. The title track and onwards. 25.00>>

Got to agree, some great choices on the list, but before we forget what about something from The Beatles? :o
Abbey Road or Let It Be are up there in my book.
What about some Dylan? Blood On The Tracks.

Not wishing to be a clever dick but the Sade album was recorded using live instruments rather than produced with studio techniques. The resulting ‘production sound’ of the album is because the original instrument players and her voice were so good and way ahead of what other bands could achieve without a lot of help from the mixing desk.
It’s probably why it sounds so slick but it’s a virtual live album, albeit recorded in a studio rather than on tour 8-) .
