What was said about the Varadero and the GSX14 is true.
I have both and they are both super comfortable mile munchers.
The GSX is perfect for the short legged and with a decent little screen easily a relaxed tourer. Seat Is second to none for comfort as stock.

The varadero is quite tall and top heavy but on the move the weight disappears. I love mine and there is little out there as versatile and solid without loads of recalls.

Test ride, test ride, test ride.

Yeah, you can't go too far wrong with an FJR. Many of them go past 100,000 or even 200,000 miles. Look how much bike you can get for just £2,500:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-FJR13 ... :rk:6:pf:0

or a really clean auto for £5k:

Personally I think I'd take a look at this really smart blue one in Bristol, complete with upgraded Maxton suspension:

You could eat your dinner off that...

Go for it. You know it makes sense.

I kind of forgot about the Kawasaki GTR1400. Well worth a look too. Like a slightly more modern FJR with some more power - awesome engine.

Ooh, I love bike shopping - even if I'm not the one buying... :D

P.S. - I suppose you should consider a Honda VFR1200 too, but I don't know anything about them.

Make sure the rear suspension linkage has been greased at some point, they are prone to seizing if not maintained and can fail with disastrous consequences, big service at 24k with valve clearances, otherwise a great bike with a turbine smooth engine and more grunt than a hog on heat. FJR garage run by Phil 'Doc' Hacker and Ernie near Cromhall M5 J14, top blokes

Well that's what is technically known as 'Not fuc*ing about'. Wish all the people who had bought bikes from me had been like you Bob.

I just hope it's a good 'un, as i feel partly responsible...
