RIP Alan...I'm sure I'm not the only 50-something here with memories of those BSA-engined bikes
And for those of you who don't...watch this and wonder
The engine 'platform' in that bike dates back to a 250cc commuter bike launched in 1958. The bike itself was made in a shed in Bolton by a desperately under-financed company using parts that were saved from the scrap bin when BSA went bust.
There were very good reasons why the British motorcycle industry collapsed in the 1970s...it's just that, when you watch that clip, you won't be able to think of any of them.
