Thanks Andy......I'm building a house in Allostock about 5 miles from Northwich, I've never visited the boat lift.....I've seen signs for it.....I'm down there 3 nights a week staying in a caravan on site I'll be taking a look on Wednesday or Thursday.

I live close tot he ship canal (pass it everyday on my way to work). Ive always fancied the cruise from Liverpool to Salford but never actually got round to doing it.

Something else you may be interested in. A boat called the Danny is a restored old steamship. It cruises from Liverpool up the Weaver navigation (towards Northwich). But can only get as far as Acton Bridge due to its draft. I pushbike a bit around Acton Bridge with the dog. Only seen the Danny once moored there. Got chatting with the captain and he let me on board for a tour round. Was really interesting.

Another boat trip for the future.
