Dunno if it's been on here already but its been recently brought to my attention that you can sign up and have reminders sent to you either via email or text when your MOT is due for renewal,ive registered all the vehicles in our household,handy and easy enough to do,all the relevant info can be found HERE

There's a good free app I've recently been introduced to called Vehicle Smart. Put in your reg and it will tell you your MOT status and history and check it's taxed and insured on the MID. It gives reminders. You can put up to 5 vehicles on for free or buy the premium version for £3.99 and you can store other details like service schedule and loads of other stuff.

Just a note - you can only register a vehicle if it has a current MOT, my VX800 doesn't yet so didn't go through. Soon to be rectified...

Not sure if any of you are aware, but the mot is changing this year, with the mot manual being virtually completely re written.
Advisory are out minors, majors, and dangerous will be implemented as from May this year.
Anyone can log in to DVSA and read the new manual.
