I'd almost finished my ride home tonight when I thought I was seeing things - a fully police liveried Ford Mustang!!
I had to google it to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me.

Bullet UK 2017!!
Re: Bullet UK 2017!!
I remember my dad telling me this in the sixties the police in north London/ Essex area got a few Daimler Darts as they were the only cars that could catch the rockers on Bonnies and Vincent's.
Not much change really. Although I would much rather have a Dart than a new Mustang, they are a bit like the new Bonnies, they are sort of de-caf.
Cheers Jak

Re: Bullet UK 2017!!
And here's the proof.
The Daimler SP250 was used by the London Metropolitan Police specifically to chase motorcycle cafe racers as the whole cafe racer trend was quite well established by the sixties and to catch up with those bikes required a car that would accelerate out to over 100mph quickly and be safely stable at speeds over the ton. The Daimler SP250’s top speed was of the order of 120mph and it’s aerodynamics promoted stability at high speed. The wedge shaped low nose creating a low air pressure area under the car causing down-force and the rear fins assisting with stability. In short the Daimler SP250 was designed with function in mind. The looks of the car are quite controversial. Like the Citroën DS series of the same period you either love them or hate them. I’m in the “love them” group for both cars. I can’t understand how anyone could not love the quirky but fascinating look of these cars. Suffice to say a Daimler SP250 is very high on my wish list of cars I’d like to own but probably won’t.

Re: Bullet UK 2017!!
my mate had one when we left Uni--nice aluminium V8 but it shed its main bearing caps when pushed--so my mate had extra steel caps made and fitted--he was not slow! I love the body style--and it was solid GRP on a steel chassis. When I started at Ford when I was 20 I shared a big house with 7 others--TR3A, Austin healey 3000, MGC (3 litre truck engine), the original TVR 1600, MGA etc--those were the days--lots of grunt and no handling!

A mustang was leaving a 40 limit and he floored it, the sound of that V8 oh missus apparently you can spec a 4 cylinder 2.3l engine, WHY?sprintster wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2017 4:33 pm I've seen a photo on Facebook of one around the Aviemore area too.Almost worth dropping a gear just to hear it coming after you!

There was one at Bikesafe a couple of years ago. When I spoke to them I was told it was a sales tease looking for orders.
There are plenty of other cars out there that would perform better, and go round corners!

There sure are and I tried quite a few but none got near putting such a big smile on my face and some of them cost nearly twice the price. A V8 muscle car for the cost of a Golf Gti with a sunroof, why wouldn't you
