Rookhope, Bridge in a field

Post by bowber »

On a recent ride out I came across this ruined bridge just out of Rookhope, Weardale.

Link to google maps streetview hopefully!

It looks like it was a bridge for a mine railway but while there is evidence of part of the railway on the other side of the road there doesn't seem to be any sign of a railway after this arch.
Does anyone know any history of this?

Good find, I did read a bit about a chimney but I didn't realise it referred to these arches!
