Sorry Newbie Insurance Question (I did search honest)...

Post by Jack Union »

Hi All - I have a tale of woe with Carole Nash and deffo won't be crossing their palm with silver ever again.
Shisters.
But enough of that - looking for a new multi bike insurer thats trustworthy.
All recommendations appreciated.
I did search 'insurance' before whacking this up but couldn't find owt so please don't shout at me if theres a thread I missed, a link will do just fine!
Cheers all.
Braddan.

This is the broker I used to use for years for my multi bike policy - up to 4 bikes I think. http://www.2insure.co.uk/contact-us
This is who I use now - they can do a multi policy for up to 10 bikes. http://www.ducatiinsurance.co.uk/

I also "had just about enough" of Carole Nash Insurance this year too.
I was recommended these guys (http://www.principalinsurance.co.uk/) by Ducati Manchester when I bough my bike a couple of months ago. Apparently it was started by "ex staff of Carole Nash who got fed up".
They certainly seemed very keen and matched the best quote I had to reel me in. They did make a few mistakes setting up my policy but corrected them ok. Unfortunately they did similar with my sons insurance so he chucked them in. They were cheap though and they do multi bike policies.
Not really a recommendation, just someone new to try maybe :S

I also use Principal Insurance, I have my road bike and dirt bike both on the same policy, pretty good price and they specialise in modified bikes which is why I was drawn to them.
Certainly worth an enquiry.

I had bad dealings with Carole Nash last year too.I was able to prove two off their employees lied against me.I did get a £25 refund on my premium for my inconvenience after they tried to increase my premium by £80 on my original quote but I still won't use them again!

Get a quote from bemoto as well. I was actually quite surprised, they answered the phone for a start, rather than 20 minutes on hold.
They do multi bike & will also mirror no claims (3 years max for my CCM) but better than nothing & certainly better than Bennetts who refused to multi bike me (already have a policy) & would only offer 3rd party on a brand new bike!
With enough profanity, you can accomplish anything

I had my 2 bikes and car with Carole Nash.
Bikes now with Bennetts on a combined policy that was less money than the best Carole Nash could do for one bike.
It still includes same mileages for each bike, breakdown / recovery across Europe, clothing/ helmet and legal cover and same low excess.
I can see the car insurance going elsewhere come renewal.

I have used Peter James for my mix of old moderns (2003) and oldies (1965 to 1995)including a Harley. Cheaper than many for the admin fee(£15) overall quote was far cheaper than CN or Footman James. Been with them for a few years but not had to make any claims.
Peter James was the James of Footman James.

I always used to have Carole Nash in years gone by as their staff always seemed to know bikes and bikers ... I had them for my ZZR last year and when it came to renewal it had shot up by 60% so when I called I was told "its all our extras mate that make us different mate and worth the extra money mate and we are specialists ... (yes you guest it) ... mate"
It was like talking to some chav on the park and I am just an ordinary bloke with no airs and graces but jeeez where do they get them from?
Anyway ... gone with Principal at over £300 cheaper, don't know what they are like should anything happen but hopefully won't need to.
CN were always good ... but now? shame :(
