Insurance went from £130 to £400!

Post by Thumper »

Wicked quotes (Ramasis) have just emailed me my new insurance quote.

Last year I paid £136, this year they want £401!

Apparently my insurance was through KTM who don't do this certain scheme anymore.

Anyone got a good insurers, before I start searching online?

I've always used Carole Nash.

The days of cheap motor insurance are over

If it's a renewal then, yes, it will without a doubt be higher than what you previously paid.

AFAIK insurance companies have a low price for the first year to entice you in/new customer 'promo' price then basically hope you forget or CBA to change and just go with a renewal the following year at a higher price.

I have zero loyalty to insurance companies and will go with the cheapest that meets my needs. I'd say get on a reputable comparison site and see what you can find (confused, comparethemarket, elephant, etc)
In my early years of riding these were always sketchy looking or named companies and actually had to claim once with no issues. Overall it's the same few companies that actually insure you (Ageas, LV).

I've recently been with MCE, Devitt and Hastings.
Whenever I've been asked about modifications the wording has generally been 'performance enhancing'.

Also with Hastings this year as were cheapest for my needs; 2014, S10, £136 everything covered.

I had a few good years with Ramasis (Wicked Quotes), actually one of the few companies I've renewed with as they found me cheaper, better cover. But they seem to have lost the plot recently.

I think ultimately you'll just have to shop around Thumper.

It's my experience that there seems to be no correlation in what an insurer will offer 2 different people. I recently got a Hastings quote and it was massive, so I didn't have Hammy's luck, or is it charm ;)

Wicked quotes hmmm . . .
Tried the same with me £100 - £250, no thanks, ended up back with Hastings who I left 3 years ago because of a silly quote
It`s a bloody farce  if it went up a few quid fine, silly amount you change ;)
