I should read that. I met the author in Eritrea nearly 20 years ago when he was travelling up to the UK with his son. They were on XT500's and we were waiting to collect our Tenere's at the port.

I stopped buying UK mags regularly years ago, mainly because I am not interested in most modern bikes. Classic bikes mags also seem to have dumbed down. If I am abroad I often buy local mags and amuse myself by trying to see how much I can work out. I have on a few occasions ended up going to local events that I have found advertised in them.
