The forums would have you believe everything KTM will fail, jap stuff goes on for ever and CCM wiring is about to go puff into a cloud of dust. I have had 2 CCM and so far (not saying it won't) the electrics have been ok the ktm bits have been great and I have done work on both the jap engines .
Like was said earlier . Anything with moving parts going out in bad weather can and will go wrong at some point.
Do you believe what you read on motorcycle forums?
Re: Do you believe what you read on motorcycle forums?
I was once told by a PR professional that if you have a good experience, the average person will tell three people about it.
But if you have a bad experience you tell an average of ten people about it.
This of course was in the early days of the internet, so I guess these days that should read the average person tells ten million people via the web
Whatever the truth, it is a fact of human nature that we tend to want to sound off about bad things but rarely good.
As a result a google search on anything will inevitably end up finding those who moan about bikes and stuff and give the impression it's bad not realising there are thousands of happy owners out there not bothering to tell anyone!
Of course as this is on a motorcycle forum it might not even be true

I don't believe anything that's been said in this thread :woohoo:
Re: Do you believe what you read on motorcycle forums?
My 2 KTMs have lived up to their reputation with plenty of annoying component failures but I still think they're great bikeskito wrote:The forums would have you believe everything KTM will fail, jap stuff goes on for ever and CCM wiring is about to go puff into a cloud of dust. My Honda (CB500X) lives up to it's reputation too, as it's never missed a beat in two years of daily use.
And my CCM (A 604E) had shocking wiring! But again it was a great bike
So maybe there's some truth in those rumours

Definitely fuel for paranoia.
It can be difficult to weed out the YouTube and Google experts from the genuinely knowledgeable folk.
Luckily, I take everything with a pinch of salt and make my own choices and cock-ups!
I often think there are specific groups of "experts".....
I've got one of these, so it must be the best, until I buy something else. (That's probably me)
You've bought a new bike? You prick, old ones are better.
Ooooh, you don't want one of those....this happens....

Old bikes were once NEW bikes.johnnyboxer wrote:New bikes are for posers
Real men ride old, gnarley bikes
Old men rode without helmets
We sat on the back of old bikes without helmets.
New is the next old.
Cheers Dave.

I think you'll find 'pulling your leg' is a much more reliable form of jocular intention. You'll be in A&E constantly with that tongue in cheek
