Andy, between 15 and 20 is just about the worst outside of the M25. At the moment during the (three year?!) upgrade to smart motorway, using that road north or south outside of say, 11am to 2pm is just a total disaster.

It was shit before they started the upgrade and while I was at Fiddlers last summer I used to cut across country and join the M6 at junction 17 rather than go over the Thelwall viaduct or go along the M56 to join the M6.

I personally are not against limits where appropriate but I also have seen warning signs illuminated long after the "hazard" has clearly been removed from an area.

It never ceases to amaze me how much more money the authorities are collectively prepared to spend on effect, compared to how little is spent on cause.
