I think you are right with the gearbox on the AP50,if i remember the fizzy was 1 up and 3 or 4 down?

I had a fantic, lovely little bike... my spotty mate had a gilera, that was a smooth running thing...
Re: humour time...fizzy or ap50?
AP50 (blue of course) although my best mate had a red one and we vied with each other for that extra 1mph mod. Drilled baffles, skimmed head, raised, smoothed and polished ports, one tooth larger sprocket meant indicated 62mph down the steepest, longest hill about. Trouble is they were quicker in fourth most of the time with the larger sprocket, fifth was reserved for the flat on the tank 'long' straights I commuted 25 miles each way on the AP for 5 months and the only time it let me down was when it seized - going down that very same hill. Crap lights though for riding across the New Forest at night :S
It was restricted 'ped time for most but a few of us got hold of AP & fizzys (what the hell was that gearshift pattern about?), needed a bit more work but worth it. My mate and I also shared a SS50 for one snowy winter, gutless but a laugh in the snow and a Fantic Caballero. The Fantic was so much quicker than the AP but broke down all the time, nothing major but no matter how much you fettled & checked (or at least what passed for it as a 16 year old) the damn thing still let you down so sold it after a couple of months and back to the reliable AP.

I had a Fantic Caballero 50... (thumbs). In relative terms, that's where my love of speed all started and is still getting me into bother 37 years later
