For best results put a wall stabiliser on the floor to seal it I use santex water or oil base then thin down the floor paint with white spirt for the first coat, then second coat it next day .

She used this and really pleased with it:

I'm using the "Johnsons" version. Clean floor, make sure its dry, 2 coats

PS

Found Johnsons cheaper than Leyland locally (thumbs)

We used to have a bakery, and the best floor paint we found was a two pack that was extremely hard wearing. Sorry can't remember name but I would think any two pack would do.....steve

Two pack epoxy is tough stuff and provided you brush the floor for dust beforehand and it has no oil or water ingrained it will last for years.

As to the carpet I take it you don't get many oil stains then

I painted my garage floor, make unknown, but always put old carpet over it, helps to keep it warmer (a bit) in winter.
The area I park the Brit Iron appears to be more waterproof than the other parts!
The workshop will get a new (old) carpet this week as replacing the lounge carpet.

The only down side with a painted floor is if you park a car with hot tyres on it the paint sticks & when you move the car the paint lifts, after that happened to me l covered the floor in 3mm rubber checker plate sheeting, nice to si on when working on car/bike & nice & grippy!!
***just like Britney Spears oops I did it again……sold the Scrambler & as of now there may not be a replacement***
