So if you were going to design a religion from scratch you know blank sheet of cosmic paper  would you go for a multi purpose jack of all trades deity or get specialists in like a god of lost socks, god of seized bolts that sort of thing?
I reckon the specialisms is the way forward then any gods not supported fall by the wayside and you'd end up with a crack team of useful gods.

Re: God: Real or Not?
I'll add in that I'm a Christian. I believe and put my trust in God. I'm certainly not ashamed of that.
I will say that as a Christian I hopefully wouldn't put someone down for not having a faith as much as I've read some of you put someone down for having one.
Maybe we should all get back on our bikes and ride eh? That does seem to be something we all can agree is good

For billions of people around the world, tell them that everything was created by an invisible man who lives in the sky, no problem, totally believable.
Tell them that the paint is wet and they have to check...

I love this quote from Ricky Gervais
"Since the beginning of recorded history, which is defined by the invention of writing by the Sumerians around 6,000 years ago, historians have cataloged over 3700 supernatural beings, of which 2870 can be considered deities.
So next time someone tells me they believe in God, I’ll say “Oh which one? Zeus? Hades? Jupiter? Mars? Odin? Thor? Krishna? Vishnu? Ra?…” If they say “Just God. I only believe in the one God,” I’ll point out that they are nearly as atheistic as me. I don’t believe in 2,870 gods, and they don’t believe in 2,869."

I hope all you heathen sods stay under cover for a few days. When god reads this forum he / she, whatever will be seriously pissed of and there will be some severe lightning bolt action happening. :woohoo:
To all that do genuinely believe in their faith. Good on you. Not my thing but I do respect your beliefs. So long as it helps people along and does no harm. (thumbs)
I have had many friends of different race and faiths, the one thing that seems to be a common thread is that they think of their religion as a moral compass to treat others as they would want to be treated more than anything else. Sounds fair enough.

you do know that it used to be much nearer, and it's getting further away by about 1/2 an inch per year, so it was always going to be "perfect" at some point...Scott_rider wrote:I'm not saying it's anything other than coincidence...but the word 'perfectly' makes me think that maybe, just maybe, it's not...

Of course he exists! Rumour has it he rides a BMW GS, and may indeed be a lurker on here.
