What is it with some car drivers on single track roads. They steadfastly refuse to let a bike (or any other vehicle for that mater) past.
I had to travel best part of the Litton / Halton Gill to Stainforth road stuck behind one such cockend.
I'm sure the more experienced riders would have made a bid for freedom but I'm relatively new to bikes and not so confident.
How hard can it be to pull in to a passing place and let someone past.

He was probably thinking something along the lines of "look at that bike trying to get past so he can speed on a single track road."
Just put up with it, pull over to have a smoke or take a photo and don't let it bother you. The golden rule is always worry about what's in front and anything behind can look after themselves.

You're maybe right, but me speed on a single track road. lol
60mph National Speed limit most of these roads. You'll not catch me going that quick.
For the record he was doing around 20 mph.

Re: Cars on single track roads
Its a limit not a target......you drive/ride at a safe speed dependent on the condtions and the state of the road.
As to them driving at 20mph was there a particular reason i.e. poor road condition, lots of hidden bends or curves?

A lot of the single track roads here have signs saying allow following traffic to pass...but they still don't.Ignorant w#@kers imo.Putbinoot wrote:Was thinking that myself.KEITH640 wrote:Why would you expect a car driver to pull out of your way

Re: Cars on single track roads
I have some sympathy for the OP, the issue I have in the Devon lanes is that when following a car down a single track road, the car has to stop / reverse every time something comes the other way, whereas on the bike I can (usually) sneak through the gaps without either me or the oncoming car having to stop, it wouldn't have any effect on the car I'm following if they let me pass (and some do), but would make life a lot easier for me, it would also stop the "foot paddling reverse" manoeuvre that I'm not very good at
