On BMW PCP agreement it states that the bike can not be taken out of the EU. Maybe it's for the same reason. Not much point of the definitive adventure bike if you can't take it outside your territory. However I'm sure other manufactures have the same stipulations.

I've looked at this and I am certain they wont cover you in the USA.
I suspect some of the stuff on the BMWs and other bikes in other parts of the world use different parts (USA due to emissions ??)

Interesting. I can may be see BMW's point if you break down in the Darian Gap. The cost of recovery to the nearest BMW dealer would be scary.
But surely the blanket refusal to honour manufacturer's warranty goes against the ethos of this type of bike?
I think some middle ground is called for. May be BMW should supply the part(s) with the owner picking up the local labour charge.
I wonder if any motorcycle manufacturer offers Global warranty? It would be a great marketing strategy.
Luckily in my case as its a BMW so the break-down risk is minimal

You need one from a 1989 Toyota Corolla - without the temp sensor

Plenty of info on AdvRider & ukgser

Something to watch out for in the USA with 100f
What is this with Toyota and BMW Motorrad? I think the 800 fuel pump is off a Toyota Corolla!

Maybe I was wrong

Perhaps it's the fuel pump & not the stator

It needs looking at if you are riding over 80f

Not all 800's suffer from this problem - just some.

I know of a father and son who rode 800's round Africa - one of the bikes developed the problem and the temp sensor in the fuel pump was identified as the issue.

Quick call to BMW back in England - a new pump was £300 plus shipping.

A quick chat with a bush mechanic - you want one from a Toyota Corrola - £30 (thumbs)

The previous owner of my bike had the fuel pump problem.
He found out about the Toyota fix at £35 so he actually got two.....just in case, then he gave me the spare, which I've still got (thumbs)
