I don't, I never have and never will but I know some do so why and how do you decide if it's male or female then choose the name?
To me they're just lumps of metal that serve a purpose and when I'm bored with them or when I've broken them I get rid of them either in one piece or broken for spares. I can understand giving pets a name so you can call them when you want them to come to you but you can't shout a bikes name and expect it to spark into life and trundle over to you so why do it?
This isn't a criticism of those that do give their bike a name because it's your bike and you can do whatever you want with it but an explanation might help me understand and might even make me change my mind though thinking of 6 different names in a hurry might be a bit of an issue :pinch:
so who gives their motorbike a name?

My first KTM 690 was Lucy (as in Sky with Diamonds) as it was definitely good for a trip. Then it got stolen.
The replacement KTM 690 which is based in Spain is therefore Lucía.

We were laughing about this at work today where 3 out of a team of 6 own bikes and one said he'd given every bike he'd owned a different name and we could only understand the fact that he's currently got a Vincent Black Prince called Vinny and a Cagiva Raptor called Luigi but the others were just random shite
There's only one name I've consistently used for any bike and using it in a moderated forum would see me black flagged!

Does this count? If a bike does not star first go, my response is usually, "what the

However even a flat battery can result in renaming along the lines of, "you piece of sh&t get your lazy arse moving. Does not seem to have a great deal of effect. Maybe I hurt it's feelings.

Mine are all called Bink. In the Discworld book the Grim Reapers Horse is called Binky and I thought that as my motorbike is the thing most likely to deliver me to the Pearly Gates it was fitting.
