An ABR in need, can we rally together?

Post by Paul »

I just thought that I would try this but realize that everybody is skint following Christmas. It would however be a great gesture in east-west relationships if we could help, let me explain...

My friend Muhammad an ABR based in Pakistan bought a 2009, 660 Tenere with compensation from an accident. Since then he has ridden all over his country promoting the beauty of Pakistan and building relations and encouraging people to overland to or through this part of the world. This is not a paid position, just a passion. His main aim is to encourage overland travel and counter the misleading generalizations and sensationalism of western media and show that people aren't all a pack of terrorists or fundamentalists.
Over the years Muhammad and his family have been host to many weary travelers from Europe and beyond and his home is open to anyone traveling across Pakistan. You can find out more on facebook https://www.facebook.com/muhammad.iqbalghangla

I am sure a few of us have received unbounded hospitality in his country at some time.

I will get to the point, Muhammad is not a rich man and owning one of what I am sure is only a handful of Tenere's in the country spares are like hens teeth and imported parts are costly and unfortunately out of his reach. He has got the best out of his present chain and sprockets as you will see in the photo but cannot afford replacements which we can buy on ebay UK for around £70.

So can we start the new year by helping Muhammad, in addition build some east-west relations and maybe get a blessing from Allah.
I propose that any donations can be made through our Curry-aid account here:
http://curryaid.weebly.com/we-need-your-help.html
It doesn't matter if it is only a few pounds, just the cost of your morning Costa's will do, I am sure we can get £70 together without too much pain as a gesture of ABR solidarity.

I will keep a running total and let you know when we have reached our target.

Cheers,
Paul
