I've probably only ever listened to about 2 ZZ Top tracks, and those are the ones that made the Top 40. Not my kind of stuff really, BUT that's actually quite good isn't it?

I shall go off and grow a big beard...

I've lately been re-acquainting with Nick Drake's 3 albums. His is, I think, one of the saddest stories of a musical genius. This is one from his last album, Pink Moon.

Just love his music.
Another whose spirit was just too fragile, spreading a little light in this ever-darkening world.

Peter Green and Rory Gallagher today.
Magicians both and lost souls to who knows where.
Just love all these 'proper' musicians, from an age without digital synthetic nonsense, studio-produced fakery and salon coiffure.
When talent with an instrument - with perhaps a little gaffer tape and buckets of sweat - was all that mattered.

I like Jackson Browne. It's easy to forget how much influence he's had and all the collaboration/song-writing for others.

I was listening to Velvet Underground yesterday, and I think Jackson Browne was involved with Nico for a while:

Yep, Goodbye Charlie Watts. Sure he was the restrained one, but I still can't believe they've all lasted so long, to be honest, considering what they've got up to in their lives. Almost an advert for tobacco, cannabis, cocaine, alcohol, shagging and rock and roll...
