Yeah, I'm partial to the occasional Prog night. Couple of spliffs, volume right up etc.

For me the masters of Prog were Yes:

I bumped into Steve Howe in a hotel lift a few months ago. A thoroughly more interesting, down to earth [masterful musician] you couldn't hope to meet.

Apart from that, you're wrong - Genesis were the masters :D :

Yeah, well that debate could last a while. All those bands were interestingly different from one another. Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes etc - all contemporaries and broadly psychedelic/prog rock but all quite distinct.

I do like Nursery Cryme a lot and play it quite often. Amazing that music so skilled and intelligent came from such a young bunch of public school kids with a cockney drummer. And with virtually no blues influence at all. They lost direction a bit later on, but Peter Gabriel Genesis is generally superb. Musical Box is amazing:

Don't yer just love Prog. I've seen Wishbone, Yes, Genesis, Floyd, etc etc, just acquired a cd copy of Close To The Edge, vinyl means I've got to turn the disc over every 20 minutes or so, yawn, and a couple that have just come up on my player are Going For The One, which is either love it or hate it, but also The Gold it's In The...
