TOURATECH
Re: TOURATECH
thats the idea, shop around and buy what suits your needs. i have actually heard a group of GS riders chatting at boxhill and one of them said 'yes, i only put touratech stuff on mine, nothing but touratech'. what a tosser. (not because hes a GSer, dont want to open that can of worms, but with TT it does seem to be mostly them.)

May as well ask, thought i knew most biking terms, what is a big foot ( leaving myself wide open here :pinch: ) also while i am being enlightened, what is a bark buster.
who dares, bins
Re: TOURATECH
To be fair the range they offer for BMWs is vast, If you got it all your bike would weigh a couple of tons.

Bark busters are a company that make hand guards.
Re: TOURATECH
barkbusters are a company that make excellent handguards but its a term used these days for the type with the metal bar throught them, as opposed to the all plastic type. a bit like 'hoover' instead of vacuum cleaner.
bigfoot- i made one for my varadero but the design of the stand is such that with the bigger foot and extra 1/16" plate under it, the bike didnt stand properly, very unsafe. its fine with a puck under the stand, but not with something actually fitted to the foot

Re: TOURATECH
I have touratech stuff on my bike , but all second hand off ebay .
The only thing that I could afford NEW from them was a big foot thing.
I expect that the importing from Germany and the VAT , definitively adds to the cost for specialist made parts , but I do agree that sticking a Tourtech logo on something and charging 10 times the amount is taking the Pee. But they have a market and like in any business if people will pay for it why not.
Nothing stopping people searching for the same item somewhere else .
Bit like buying a designer pair of running shoes, you can buy the same sort of shoe at high street for a lot less, i.e. paying for the brand logo
My opition

Re: TOURATECH
I was looking at a 1200GS in the bike park at the Excel on Friday! It had every TT part you could imagine fitted, all shiny & unused.
You just know he was the sort of knob who kepk all the little bags, so he could flog it later on ebay "as new"
Looking through the catalogue I would say his bike owes him in excess of 20K.
His biggest purchase was the GS tank conversion kit at an eye watering £1,148.98p
That would make my wallet sulk for a month!
But I guess our intrepid hero needed the extra 16 litre capacity, so he can do 3 laps of the M25 without stopping!

Re: TOURATECH
evening all.............
i'm foxed as to why touratech are on average 20% dearer on most products in comparrison to other companies. i have an '08 BMW GS, so i can only vouch for the Beemer products as that is what i search for and wish to buy (in my dreams). touratech actually manufacture and produce most of there products at there Unit in Ystradgynlais South Wales, so import costs and middle men should'nt be an excuse to hike the prices. i tend to think that they have market dominance on bling for certain bike models and can therefore dictate an inflated market.
Wunderluch on the other hand only manufacture in Germany so you can understand there prices, who are also expensive in my opinion.
i agree with some of the previous posters, if you've got a shed its more fun to produce your own bling, ok so its not laser sculpted but it works fine imo.
regards all
rico.
