Lesser Spotted Gritter

Post by Kev63 »

Not sure if its the first sighting this Autumn but on my way to work the other morning I was greeted by a Lesser Spotted Gritter just north of Inverness. At 4.30 in the morning it was displaying an attractive display of flashing amber lights however it did leave a trail of its muck behind it.

For those interested it should migrate slowly further south over the coming weeks.

Sorry to hear that Kev - I would say that it is clear blue and 27 here at the mo - but I won't as I'll be heading back north again soon. Hopefully I can sneak my riding in at the end of the month before it gets too bad on the island.

I spotted one in Cardiff the other day... fortunately not spreading anything.I suspect they're just mustering before the onset of dark evenings, when we'll all appreciate the fine amber display ritual.

I haven't seen any here in Moray yet, hope to get a couple of weeks more before they make a mess all over the roads.
The Crosstourer will be going to bed as soon as one's spotted.

They drove me mad last winter , when they wasted salt on dry roads with the temps well above zero , just to show that they are working .
When the snow arrives there is no salt left :(
