BBC Series on the SAS

Post by Cone »

All, I had to share this.

Anyone who hasn't watched BBC4 s series on how the SAS formed and their part in the second world war needs to before BBC remove it from iplayer.

Absolutely phenomenal, however the last episode does contain some rather shocking war footage.

A few years ago I had the privelege of being lent the big memoirs book (shown in one of the episodes) by Johnny Coopers son.

I read the account of Paddy Main's refused submission for a VC. It is completely mind blowing and frankly incredible that it was refused.

A classic piccy from the book:

The book which goes with the series is a great read too, as is their first doctor's account of life with the Regiment when it was first formed:

You were lucky to get to see it, not many do.
