Not sure if this is in the right place, feel free to move it mods.
The subject at hand..........
My 11 year old is off camping with the school for a week in May, therefore, I have just about persuaded Mrs Jelly to have a weeks camping with me on the bike :woohoo: , she is more of a hotel kind of gal, so her agreeing to this is rare.
Can anyone recommend any biker friendly camp sites in the Peak district?
They must have good well maintained facilities, If I make it as comfortable for her now there's more chance I can hoodwink her into a rally or two later on.
Not too bothered about having a camp fire but would prefer somewhere where it aint full of pensioners who moan about the slightest noise after 8pm.
I do like to have a bit of music of an evening, not blaring out, just listenable. (is that a word?) without miserable farts moaning.
Oh and no open fields, a few trees dotted about for weather protection is preferred.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There are a couple of great ones at Barber Booth and Upper Booth at the base of Kinder scout if you are into scenery or walking or there is a nice one at Pomeroy on the main road with access to the Tissington trail and there is mountain bike hire nearby and a good pub just down the road.
I work to live. I live to ride. I ride to work, Ever felt like your going in circles.

Try Alstonefield, DE6.
There is a Youth Hostel and a large well appointed camp field, just above Gypsy Bank leading down to the River Dove. Stunning!
The George Pub is 500 yards away.
Cheap too!

In truth the food at the George is the best for miles..
Re: Peak district camp site recommendations please.
Not sure which part of the peaks you are planning on heading for jelly, but i can give you some advice for around the hathersage, hope, castleton area. Me and my brother went to hope for 4 nights last year and stopped at laneside farm which is 5min walk to the village and pubs and has a bus stop outside enabling a good walk/drink at castleton or hathersage if reqd after a days ride. the tent area is seperate from the caravans and bbq,s ok. We also stopped 2 miles up the road at hardhurst farm which backs onto the excellent travellers rest pub, this is a quieter more relaxed site but still on the bus route the new wash block was nearing completion last year. the best of all was the caravan club site just on the outskirts of castleton called losehill, which had a small tent area and wash facilities to die for 5*... but they no longer accept tents unfortunately. there is some excellent riding to be had around the derwent and ladybower reservoirs and forested areas and great pasties at the visitors rest area. have a gud un mate......, posher can be found at the innkeepers lodge "fox inn" or "castle inn"

Let me know when you are coming up to my manor and
1 I will make sure I am away
2 before I go make sure I pinch a couple of your tent pegs
3 Order some sun for you.
;-) :silly:
seriously let me know and I will have a run over to say hi.
If you want some great roads mapping out to try let me know.
Will you be needing a little off road fun?
