Houndkirk moor is fantastic. A lot of different surfaces, rocks, sand, bit of mud. Will be OK on road tyres assuming its dry...or you pick your route at the rocky section.

Loads of trails in the Peaks. Do a search back for the Peaks rideout (not the report, the planned ride out thread). Start at the last post and work towards the front. You will find the GPX of the route we did yesterday.

Have to agree with Beddowsm hounkirk would be ideal.
I suppose the problem with the gpx and even www.trailwise.org.uk is that until you get to the trails you don't really know what they are like for tourance.

If you have some software for harming you can open in that. If you are using Tom Tom then you could use this free software
http://www.tyre.tk/
And then open the gpx in it. It uses google maps.

Let me know if you want a gpx of the easier trails.

Other thing... Are you doing this on your own?

sorry to ask a dumb question but dont want to end up somewhere i shouldnt be, when following that gpx route the route is shown on certain parts as "staright lines" following no byway i take it that was done like that for ease of plotting the route and that will follow a road section to the next byway if that makes sense lol

i have a os map as back up

The points are just start and finish points usually and you need to follow the trail / byway or road.

Have you tried navfree a good road based free sat Nav app for the iPhone ?
