Post by one-two-three-four »

Just a reminder if not seen:

The Great Christmas Escape 2017.
Wiltshire TRF member, adventure baker and Rotarian Steve Burbidge hosts his annual ‘Great Christmas Escape’ charity trail ride from Andover to the ‘ghost village’ of Imber on Salisbury Plain Training Area on 28th December. Wiltshire TRF support the event by providing run leaders and offering route advice. No need to be a TRF member to ride out.
Entry is £35 and includes breakfast in Andover and lunch at Imber, both graciously provided by Burbidge's Bakery.
Profits will go to Andover & District Mencap’s Senior Gateway Club, which helps improve the lives of people affected by learning disability, and the Andover Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland Club which Steve has supported for the past ten years.
If you would like to participate, then please visit The GREAT Christmas Escape Thursday 28th Dec 2017 Facebook event page for further information. Entry is FREE to anyone willing to lead a group of riders along a route of their own design from Andover, Hampshire, United Kingdom to Imber and back.
Here’s a report from last year’s successful event: http://www.trf.org.uk/the-great-escape/

I did it - good fun. 220 riders in total. Got dangerous towards end of the day on the roads on the periphery of the plain, black ice etc.

It didn't feel as cold as last year but it was slippy as hell. We rode down the day before from Worcestershire and encountered four inches of snow at Birdlip on the way through. The header on my 690 then exploded into 2 halves near Cirencester. :D Managed to safety wire it back together and then blagged a jubilee clip from the garage in Weyhill and it was serviceable. No major offs or issues in our group, although I heard at lunch there were some broken bones that morning. It was a mighty cold ride back on Thursday evening though.

Another brilliant event with a great turnout. Apparently £5k was raised for charity after Steve's costs, which is brilliant.

Well done to anyone who travelled to be there, as always it was impeccably organised and great fun, and a hefty amount raised for charity. Plain was stunning in the sunshine. Some good pics on the UKGSER forum if anyone wants to see what it was like. http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread ... ROAD/page7
