Re: HU RUSSIA 2018
Visa has to be applied for in person (Edinburgh, Manchester or London); Alex the HU organiser will give you a Letter of Invitation and it's job done!
I paid the official Russian agency to do the paperwork for me , think in all I paid around £60

since posting this ive read that if you have a ticket for a world cup match and you register on their site, youre ticket is youre visa.so theoretically, you buy a ticket for a match, and go during the world cup.whos to say you cant travel to a match on youre bike.or would that be too easy.

I wouldn't want to risk any shortcuts; is it worth the hassle if they won't buy that one at the border. On quite a few occasions , and not just at the border my paperwork was rigorously examined - Russia is still very much worth visiting though.

Alexander at rusmototravel is the local organiser for HU; his email is [email protected] if you need any advice about visas etc.PHILinFRANCE wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2017 9:31 pm Proper fancy this , its only 3400kms to somewhere ive never been and another 400kms to Moscow and Red Square is on my list , just had a look on HU and only find 2017 info
You'll probably find that some people will be leaving for Russia from the HU UK meeting which is the week before at Hay on Wye.
Moscow was stunning , Red Square was amazing; I stayed at a bikers's hostel/ bar/ restaurant that the guys took me to, owned by a Russian RTW guy
I entered Russia via Estonia and exited via Georgia so I could take in Volgograd ( previously known as Stalingrad) but others went up to St Petersburg and did Finland, Nordkap etc. After Georgia, I came back via Turkey's Black Sea coast, Greece and took the ferry from Igounamesta to Ancona
Moscow and Red Square were stunning, I stayed at a bikers's hostel bar and restaurant owned by a local RTW guy which was very cheap it is called ' Night Train'
The Russians are some of the warmest, friendliest, most hospitable people you'll meet
