Re: ECKY THUMP RALLY 2017
John did brilliantly--my first time at this rather basic campsite--but I coped without a hot tub! A good turn out from far and wide--and about 50% HD riders as well. The pub served excellent meals and there was plenty of Boll"£cks talked around the camp fire on both nights. I did a solo tour--Thirsk and back and then up across the moors (windy), turned right to Whitby and then back through Pickering with people in old clothes here and there--its a poor area!
John insisted on waking everyone up this morning with a loud "good morning" because he was up before dawn (she sleeps in) and off at first light closely followed by his trailer. I had a good ride home on the back roads to the Humber Bridge and then south--lots of bikes out--and more police than I've seen in the last year!--but no bugger waves any more!!!(except a bike cop going to Thirsk--not a wave--but acknowledgement!) The weather was dry and mild- but quite dull for the most part. Next one is the Yuletide near Barnstaple?--and I met one of my long time friends at the rally from back in the early days of the BMW club SW section-Jim Isherwood--now living near James Sherlock at South Moulton -fond memories of the hippo rally at the Hidden Valley campsite (1990-1993)--and I believe the rally is still on--next weekend--at a different site.

Yeah, great rally. Thanks John. It was good to meet new people and thanks for making a newbie very welcome.
Good to meet up with Chris again too.
Can’t make the next one I’m afraid even though it’s local to me - other things on.
