I will be leaving in about an hour after an early lunch. It's only about 90 minutes for me and I have got heated grips, a heated jacket, a big screen and 1200cc. :). See you all there.

Sorry for the very short ride out lead, 11 miles

Anyway back home now and another battery fitted as I had 2 newish spares of the same size, this ones been liberally coated in vaseline on the terminals so should last more than the last one.

For anyone who doesn't know what I'm on about, I was trying to lead a ride out form Takoda when my bike (KTM 950) just died on the Middleton road, checked the main fuse and it was fine so check the battery. when i opened up the battery box the positive terminal fell out as well due to the extensive corrosion caused by road salt and obviously no sign of any grease or corrosion prevention after the bike shop fitted the battery 1 1/2 years ago when I bought the bike.

Should have checked it myself though so know one to blame but myself.

The only 2 times this bike has let me down have been corrosion caused by the electrics being in a stupid position down at the bottom of the engine, and both times have been when I've been trying to go for a ride out with a group stopping at Takoda!

Hope to see you all soon at another event.

Hi Bowber, yours wasn't the only bike to have battery trouble. We stopped a few miles further on and my 1100gs just went click then no power when I went to start it again my problem was a loose battery earth lead which was a quick fix

Good to hear a BMW broke (ish) as well :P Bit of an easier fix than mine though.

Here's my battery, + terminal is err terminal.

Very thin crappy terminals though, not like the normal ones so it must have been the cheapest crap battery they could get.
