You are pretty handy with those maps Moorso, so it appears to be steering for a night atThe Sheperds rest, with a trip to the local stone circle to worship the sun god so far. I am thinking i could possibly link up the longest day run to end up at The Sheperds Rest, with the option to camp overnight.

Am i right in saying that he longest day is Friday the 21st?

Hey up Flintock....

I enjoy my cartography! That sounds like an awesome plan good Sir. I'll probably be two up again.... but the longest day is 21st... which is the Friday. I'm not even sure if me and the missus will camp, but maybe finishing there so people have the option is a good idea. :cheer:

I haven't been up there in a long time, but the situation itself is beautiful...a neolithic henge monument, in essence, right in the middle of Belfast. When I was 16 I was on an archaeological excavation right beside it at Ballynahatty (but it is the field right beside the Giant's Ring) and it was a huge wooden 'henge' structure too....with an exhumation platform (a place where they left bodies to decompose before burying them in crouched inhumation style burials).

Anyhoo....I'm rambling!

Derek....I think we all enjoy a pub and pint of Vitamin G....don't we?!?
No mate it has definitely improved in the recent past.

However IMHO it is not in comparison to the stone circles. There is something wildly eerie about Beaghmore, especially when JON one else is about.

And yep the Lagan towpath is great but its all just a bit...meh.

And yep 21 is the longest day.
Boo :-p

Moorso, i am getting the day off and got a pass out from her indoors, so me and Suziv should be camping on Friday night. Shepherds rest looks great and looking forward to it. we will probably make our own way up to the campsite and see who's about.can't be any worse than the weather at Meelmore.

I might be able to do the run, but not the camping at this time. I had thought about doing the Scotland day trip on 15th but can't do both. So the Jury is out at the moment, and I will have a decision nearer the time, dependant on getting the ok from you know who, and getting the time off from work

Will keep you posted .
If I'm not online.............

I'm probably out on the Bat Bike
