I often considered a Gas Gas Pampera. They are great little bikes. The nearest i got was a TXT 250 pro with a pit bike seat fitted so i didn,t have to stand up all the time. Gas gas clutches are always on the cusp of dragging badly (usually due to the wrong oil being used and the plates swelling up) or slipping for the same reason of wrong oil being used. The tolerance on the assembled clutch pack dimensions is very small and if you don,t get it right the bike can be a nightmare to ride. I used ATF but many use a 10W 30 mineral oil or Motul 10W 30 transoil works well. I now have a Montesa 247 Cota with all metal clutch plates and it only works well with either of those oils. I was a bit sceptical about ATF but if you think it works in an extreme pressure environment with a clutch system and often a sealed gearbox with an oil life expected to exceed 100,000 miles. Although it is designed for use in a dry clutch many trials riders swear by ELF HTX 740 gear oil.Richard Simpson Mark II wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 3:11 pmI've taught a few people who had never ridden a motorbike before to ride on my Pamp. Tape the throttle shut, and they can learn clutch control and gearchanging without worry...it has easily enough bottom-end power.Tonibe63 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 10:02 am The clutch on the Pamperas are so light you can use 1 finger. The engine has so much tourque at the bottom end that you don't often need to feather the clutch but if you need more torque you can fit the header pipe and exhaust from a TXT trials bike.
The only downside is build quality but they are simple to work on although a bit tight around the radiator area. A common mod is to move the plastic rad guard down the frame and secure with cable ties to stop the rad clogging with mud.
A Pampera reminds me a bit of what the old WWII pilots used to say about the Tiger Moth basic trainer..."an easy aircraft to fly, but a difficult aircraft to fly really well."
With an expert rider (not me) a Pamp can go places that you'd think only Graham Jarvis, or a proper trials bike, could go.
If you do get one though, don't put gear oil in the gearbox...that mistake cost me £100+ for a new clutch pack! Mineral engine oil 10W-30 only with no low friction additives is what you want. I get mine from an American car specialist.

Re: Gas Gas Pampera - wanted.
I always used automatic transmission fluid (atf) in my Pampera gearbox.
My txt200 (atf in gearbox) has sat unused in the shed for 3 years and during lockdown I got it going round the garden, initially the clutch was dragging but after a minute or two it freed up nicely.

Re: Gas Gas Pampera - wanted.
My memory is not what it was and it was atleast 5 years since I bought any but the only stuff I have on the shelf is Comma ATF meets Dexron ll AQM
It could have used it in a gasgas gearbox but equally it could have been used in my old T4 power steering pump or indeed both, not owned an auto car so not used for that.Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

Nice mk 3 on long distance trials Facebook group ,Hugh wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 7:37 pm Greetings, thanks Snaf,
I have sent an email to Rob. I had ridden with him a few years ago and he is a really nice chap.
I would and have recommended his Adventure school in the past. We had a great day out and of course not knowing the lanes made it all the more intriguing.
Fingers crossed.

Hi Bill
Did you live in Brackley, if so I bought it off of you and I've still got it! It's been a fantastic bike - I've ridden all round the Peaks, the French / Italian Alps and a fair few LDTs. Thinking of letting it go now as I've just bought a 4Ride. I've got two mates with them as well and so long as you look after them they just keep on going.

Greetings folks,
Job done, met with Richard and came home with what was his bike.
Really nice to meet with you Richard and a pleasure 'doing business' too.
Arrived home safely and immediately sold the Alp to a friend, just hope that it doesn't disgrace either of us. Serow gave me a funny look
Thank you to everybody for their help and guidance. Bill, your old bike is happy with me now.
