Hugh, the switch should really be placed in the feed from the ignition which is the low current side of the relay

It will work either way, but normal practice is on the low current side allowing lower current rated switches to be used, not much of a problem if the load is low amperage but if the relay was switching something meaty it would mean having to use a correspondingly meaty manual switch
Its a trick............get an Axe

thankyou all .. I am quite humbled by your replies .. it is slowely getting through to me ..
.. so I can connect straight to the battery via a fuse and switch .. (for each light)
but placing a relay in is better?

so how do I know what relay to buy? .. any type? .. ebay?

Greetings,

Asgard, good point made about the switch position so I have altered the sketch.

As to which rating of wiring, switch and relay well that will depend upon the current draw, do you intend to switch the lights on singularly or in pairs? The lights in the photo look new so if they came boxed the rating should be on the instructions or box, alternatively if you know the manufacturer you might be able to find details on the internet. Perhaps somebody with similar lights might be able to guide us. Best to solder connections, keep wiring short as possible, run along side original wiring loom or frame and use self amalgamating tape to bind as protection.

You could look to fit a Fuzeblock which can be bought from NippyNormans in the UK

www.fuzeblocks.com

And would provide the relay and fuses for any future add on

Greetings again,

I have not used either of the following companies but they both also sell fuse boxes which might suit your/our needs;

thankyou all for the links .. brill .. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

I will read them all through, when i have more time

just a thought ..
My NC750, which i will be fixing the lights to ..
is DCT
so that means that if i leave the lights on ..[ if fixed straight to the battery .. and the battery runs down ] .. there will be no power to start the motor ..
And .. it cannot be bump started

what i am aiming for, with the lights (doh) , is to have the left one slightly above the `dip beam` level
and the right one slightly below the `high beam` level
with a separate switch for each, and with 1 or both operational at the same time,
in addition to the main bean and dip beam
I would prefer both the auxiliary lights to be direct to the battery (with their own fuse) so if they blow it will not affect the oem lights?
