Re: wanted nice crf250l
Buy a stock bike, you will be spending money on it to uncork the bike that’s hidden beneath... guaranteed
I haven’t read the pages and pages on the bike specific thread on here, but I bet it’s all about upgrading the stock bike.

Good question. There’s lots of mint very low mileage STOCK examples around. Quite frankly, the stock bike is err... lacking.
Mine - suspension aside, I’ve never taken it off road, so was capable for what I needed - is fully sorted.
I think it’s worth £3500 <prepares to be shot down in flames>
That's the problem i've found.. for a 6-700 hundred quid more i can get a new one... I know mods are need the suspension is squishy etc.... but a new one comes with less baggage and can be tailored to suit over time.
If i was to buy a second hand one itd need to be saving me more than that. Also concerned that it may lack ummmph love for people to tell me stop being so daft.... No shortage on torque on the f800 to drag me up a hill (If i stay on )
Re: wanted nice crf250l
Cone.....You are being daft.
Swapping a GS800 for a CRF250L? Have you given up riding on tarmac? Do you like riding with the throttle on the stop?
Spend a wad of cash on a stock CRF250L and you'd only have a third of the 800's power.
A KTM 690r or a CCMGP450 would be a better option, but the best option would be to keep your GS800 and do a BMW off road skills course.......ideal if your competent off road on a small bike and want to gain confidence on something bigger.

Re: wanted nice crf250l
You only have half the story lol..
No I am going to get a cb500 for commuting my 70 miles a day on full on road tyres... boy that will be a joy to ride compared to filtering on nobbles..
Also get something smaller I’m not scared of getting stuck on when out on my own as I have no one to ride with. For instance last time I went out found myself transitioning from a hard trail in to deep muddy ruts. I only got out by walking and clutching the bike. God help me if it was worse lol
Don’t mean to hijack this thread it’s verring off topic slowly. Sorry!!

Re: wanted nice crf250l
This is exactly what I was talking about in my previous post. There's no point buying 2nd hand when for just a few hundred more you can get the new, more powerful engine, ABS, not MOTs for 3 years, less wear'n'tear..... etc. Also, you won't need all the power mods that people have put on (exhaust, EJK, air filter mods etc). That makes the bike standard and more easily maintainable as you don't have 3rd party add-ons to consider if/when problems arise. It's a no-brainer.Cone wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 6:09 pmSniffysnifflytooth wrote: ↑Wed Mar 21, 2018 3:33 pm @cone

Re: wanted nice crf250l
the crf250l was created to be upgraded, its what the bike is about, oh and touring across continents, if get a good one it does not matter 2017 or older as they run forever!!! Nothing like new shiny bike though!!!!
anyhow I am selling mine, after top dollar but ready for your round the world trip and with all the mods a chunk lighter and a bit more powerful than the 2017.
forget teh exhaust and fuel controller and you still have £1300 of upgrades, all that the 2017 could do with, with exhaust and fuel controller its well over £1800 of extras. Awesome bikes but I have a itch Ive gotta scratch. Been offered £3300 but turned down, after close to asking price.
I have modified exhaust gaurd so can carry nelson rigg saddlebags or other similer ones.
CHeck out crf250l north west uk on facebook, all are welcome regardless of bike ridden, rides in peaks and wales and other places organised on regular basis. the guys on there will vouch for me.
