Honda XR650L - For Sale in U.K - VERY rare bike
With massive regret I'm putting up for sale my much loved and painfully restored XR650L. I have to put money into my new business and selling off my fleet of bikes is the only way I can do it..
So.... It's a 1994 imported from the USA the same year.
I've put an engine out of a newer NX650 Dominator in it. It's better !! A far better ratio gear box for everything bar desert racing. It's got a longer 1st and 5th gear making it better all purpose off-road bike.
I stripped the frame down to nothing and had it powder coated. I put new bearings EVERYWHERE on the bike. EVERYWHERE...
The engine has been rebuilt excluding the crank and gearbox as they are fine.. I honed the bore and fitted new piston rings. I rebuilt the head with new valve seals and also lapped in the valves. The cases, barrel, head and rocker cover have been sandblasted and enamel painted.
It has a full stainless FMF exhaust system costing £600
It has a NEW Carb costing £300 whith a dynojet kit to match the exhaust. K&N filter also.
It has a NEW wiring loom costing £200
It has NEW genuine Honda plastic panels costing £250
It has a NEW Acerbis 23L Plastic tank
It also has new chain, sprockets, front disc, rebuilt callipers, new pads, new Renthal Dakar bars, hand guards... I even had the seat recovered and fitted with a Gel pad which cost me £120.
The list goes on and on. I think the only thing I haven't done is the suspension but it works like new. I think it was rebuilt before I bought it as it's very plush.
I shudder to add up the costs but it's approaching £5000. The hours I just lost count on.
I wan't as close as I can to getting my money back. I've seen standard ones sell for around £4000 so I think mines worth a bit more than that.. Although it's hard to tell.
I'm looking for £4500 or very nearest offer.

Thank you so much for you opinion. I'll treasure it.
It's aimed at a small, specialist market. Those who travel globally off road. Probably not found on ABR to be honest.

I have the xr650 R and it starts even better when hot , the problem is that most people have them jetted too rich so they start easyly when cold without choke . :whistle:minkyhead wrote:a i dunno chris who i traveled with has a xr650 r and it was brill ..apprt from ....to low gearing weather protection ..and monstering tyres at the speed of light with a total stuberness to start when hot ..which was most of the time where we were...Bianchi wrote:Minky no point trying to reply to father Ted if your not a global traveler and shouted/ broadcasted it from the mountain tops he's not that interested.... I saw this on HUBB a while ago and thought it was massively optimistic with the price.
Which is why you still have it...
Best of luck,
No harm on trying I guess
